Adopt a Pet & Dogs

Los Angeles - As you may have read or heard, we recently had an incident in which a FOX 11 employee was bitten by a Pit Bull that had been brought in to appear on Good Day LA's Adopt-a-Pet segment.

As a result, we instituted a ban of Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and Dobermans while we reviewed our internal policies. The goal was to try and find a way to ensure the safety of our employees and guests, while continuing to try and help as many animals as possible to find suitable homes.

That review is now complete.

We are instituting the following changes internally:

• The animals will be kept in a new, enclosed area prior to going on the air;
• We will instruct our employees not to interact with the animals;
• For any animal that cannot remain in a carry case while waiting to go on air, we will require that two handlers be present.

With those new procedures in place, we are able to once again welcome all dog breeds on our Adopt-a-Pet segment.
