(NewsCore) - LOS ANGELES -- ABC will air an hour-long interview with troubled actor Charlie Sheen on its show "20/20" on March 1, the network announced Saturday.
At the same time entertainment news website RadarOnline reported that Sheen passed a urine drug test taken in the presence of the website's senior executive editor and two producers. The test checks for seven illegal drugs, including cocaine, and five prescription drugs.
While drawing headlines around the world for his recent behavior, Sheen claims to be "100 percent sober." RadarOnline reported the star had flown back from a holiday in the Bahamas to Los Angeles to take the test late Friday, which he passed on a preliminary basis, with full results expected in 24-48 hours.
Meanwhile, ABC News' Andrea Canning will talk to Sheen on "20/20" about his ongoing public feud with Chuck Lorre, the creator of "Two and a Half Men," the hit sitcom in which Sheen stars.
Sheen attacked Lorre on the radio Thursday after calling in as a guest on a syndicated show hosted by Alex Jones and in an interview with TMZ.
In both instances, Sheen ranted about Lorre, calling him a "clown" and a "charlatan." Sheen also said he was solely responsible for the success of "Two and a Half Men," saying he had turned the "tin can" of a show into "pure gold."
CBS and Warner Bros. Television announced later Thursday that they would discontinue the production of "Two and a Half Men's" current season due to "the totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition."
"Two and a Half Men" director James Widdoes, in an interview Friday with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, said, "It's been a particularly interesting 24-hours. This is a game-changer."
Asked about the possible return of the show, Widdoes said: "I'm enough of a cockeyed optimist to hope that it does [return] for its fans, for its crew. For all of the best parts of 'Two and a Half Men,' I hope it does.
Before the announcement that production on "Two and a Half Men" would be discontinued, the show had been on hiatus while Sheen, 45, underwent a rehab program at his Los Angeles home.
His treatment began after he was hospitalized Jan. 27, suffering from "severe abdominal pains" after a reported 36-hour cocaine bender in the company of several porn actresses.
The show had been due to return to production on Feb. 28 with another four shows to be filmed before the season wrapped. Sheen, 45, earns $1.25 million an episode for the sitcom, and had offered to contribute to the salaries of the crew during the hiatus.
