(NewsCore) - Actor Chord Overstreet is negotiating his return to "Glee" just months after he was dismissed from the series, TV Line reported Tuesday.
The TV musical's producers declined to renew Overstreet's contract as a series regular in July, though a source close to the show said at the time he could return as an occasional guest star.
Overstreet told TV Line in August, "They offered me the chance to come back for a few episodes, but there was nothing guaranteed." He instead opted to concentrate on pursuing a music career.
Now, sources say Overstreet is close to finalizing a deal to reprise his role as sensitive transfer student Sam Evans on a regular basis.
If the deal is finalized, Overstreet would make his return on the current season's eighth episode, tentatively scheduled to air in December.
"We missed Chord and Chord missed us," a source said. "It's a win-win."
It was not immediately clear how Overstreet's character would be reintroduced. The second season of "Glee" ended with Sam Evans moving out of Ohio, where the show is set.
