(EndPlay Staff Reports) - If you're a fan of Ethan Hawke portraying a writer in Europe, you may get another movie treat – in a sunset and sunrise kind of way.
Last month the actor told the French publication Allocine that he and his co-star from the "Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset" films, Julie Delpy, as well as director Richard Linklater, were in the process of writing a third installment of the film series, Vulture reported.
Hawke noted that there had been nine years between the first two films, and since it's coming up on another nine years since the last, he sees it as the right time.
"All three of us have been having similar feelings that we're ready to revisit those characters. There's nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we've really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We're going to try [to] write it this year," Hawke elaborated.
But now New York Magazine's Vulture is reporting that Hawke is regretting mentioning the sequel.
This week when the actor was presenting a New York Stage and Film honor to Christopher Plummer, Hawke backtracked and said, "I don't know. It's been all over the little Internet chatters, but when we do one, we'll do one. I regret talking about it, you know? The wonderful thing about the first two is that they were such a wonderful project for us. So we're trying to – if there is a third one, we want it to happen all by itself."
And when asked what the third movie would be titled, Hawke joked and replied, "We'll call it, um, 'Before the Devil Knows You're Dead,'" and then continued, "We're gonna call it 'Dante's Inferno.'"
Hawke can currently be seen in the French film " La Femme du Véme ."
