(NewsCore) - Silent-era movie "The Artist" led the pack Thursday as it picked up six nominations for the 2012 Golden Globes, including best film comedy or musical and acting nods for stars Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo.
The film is fast becoming the talk of Tinseltown, having picked up a slew of nominations Wednesday for the SAG awards.
Also scoring big with five Golden Globe nominations were "The Help," about black servants in the pre-civil rights era US South, and "The Descendants" starring George Clooney, who was nominated for best actor. He also picked up a best director nomination for "The Ides of March," for which he shared the best screenplay nod.
Hollywood veteran Woody Allen was nominated for best director for "Midnight in Paris," which is also in the running for best musical or comedy, best screenplay and best actor in a musical or comedy for Owen Wilson.
Sofia Vergara, Woody Harrelson, Rashida Jones and Gerard Butler named the nominees in 25 categories for movies and television on behalf of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
The 69th awards will be shown live on NBC on Jan. 15 at a star-studded ceremony hosted again by Ricky Gervais.
