(The New York Post) - Julianne Moore has outdone Sarah Palin's quip about lipstick and a pitbull by donning a highly coiffed wig to transform herself into the former vice-presidential nominee.
In a new teaser trailer for the HBO film, "Game Change," based on John Heilemann and Mark Halperin's book about the 2008 presidential election, Moore is virtually indistinguishable from the former governor of Alaska. In fact, Moore makes Tina Fey's impersonation of Palin seem like child's play.
The trailer begins with a discussion between John McCain, played by Ed Harris, and his senior campaign strategist Steve Schmidt, played by Woody Harrelson.
"We need to create a new dynamic in this campaign," says Harrelson. "We desperately need a game-changing pick."
"Find me a woman," responds Harris.
While the two speak, viewers see far-off images of Moore as Palin, sticking a sensibly-heeled foot out of a car, walking into a dinner and striding onto the stage of the 2008 Republican National Convention as the audience chants, "Sarah! Sarah!"
Finally, viewers see Moore's face as she steps to the microphone. Her bone structure is shockingly like Palin's, and her hairdo is spot-on. She wears a white suit, a string of pearls, and Palin's signature rimless glasses.
"I will be honored to accept your nomination for vice president of the United States," says Moore, her accent nearly identical to Palin's.
To prepare for the role, Moore shared that she watched every interview she could find with the Mama Grizzly.
But Palin herself may still squabble with Moore's portrayal. Earlier this year, Palin revealed to FOX News that she was nervous for the release of "Game Change."
"I think I'll just grit my teeth and bear whatever comes what may with that movie," Palin told FOX's Sean Hannity.
"I'm all about job creation. And I guess I could provide some of these gals who pretend like they are me some job security. I would ask, though, if they're of the mind of spreading the wealth around, that perhaps they want to spring for one of my kids' sets of braces or something as they capitalize on pretending to be me."
"Game Change" will premiere on HBO in March.
