(EndPlay Staff Reports) - Katy Perry might be one of the most animated pop singers around, figuratively and now literally. The energetic star is joining forces with Electronic Arts for an upcoming release from its ever-popular francise "The Sims."
The expansion pack " The Sims 3: Showtime ," to be released in March, will allow gamers to see their Sim live the dream as a singer, dancer, DJ, magician or other performer. Perry-themed content -- including clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props –- will be included in the game.
Perry isn’t the first celebrity to make an appearance in the franchise. Comedian, actor and game show host Drew Carey made a special cameo appearance in "The Sims 2: House Party." Carey's character would show up as a celebrity guest at successful events: The funny man would pull up in a limo and appear as a non-playable character if a gamer’s party lasted at least 135 minutes and scored 55 or higher.
Both Perry and Carey have said they are fans of the real-life simulator. "The Sims" was parodied in two episodes of " The Drew Carey Show ," one of which started off with the characters speaking in Simlish, with thought bubbles translating words into images, just like in the games.
Perry was excited about the prospect of her concert tour being translated into the tiny video game world.
“It’s cool to see the Sims’ stage performances in 'The Sims 3: Showtime' decked out just like my California Dreams Tour -- even my cotton candy video screens are in there,” Perry said. “I always like to think of myself as a cartoon, and now I’m a Sim!”
