'X Factor' Star Rachel Crow to Get Show on Nickelodeon

(The New York Post) - Nickelodeon wants to make "The X Factor" cutie Rachel Crow into its newest tweenage sensation by giving her a comedy show.

The network that turned Miranda Cosgrove and Amanda Bynes into household names is developing a comedy pilot for the 14-year-old US reality star.

"We are in the early stages now," Crow confirmed. "We haven't figured out exactly what we will do with the show yet. I want it to be definitely very 'Rachel' -- something that shows who I am and who I want to be."

"I am incredibly happy for Rachel," Simon Cowell said in a statement. "This girl has it. We saw her potential at the first audition, and Nickelodeon and Columbia are the right homes for her."

Crow, who had been pursued by several networks, including the rival Disney Channel, also will appear in five episodes of Nickelodeon's newest comedy, "Fred: The Show."

The episodes are expected to air later in the spring. The network did not give a timetable for when the pilot will be shot.

Crow, a fan favorite from her first "X Factor" audition, captured viewers' hearts when she shared her story of being born to a mother addicted to crack cocaine.

She finished fifth in the FOX singing contest but was left sobbing uncontrollably onstage after her shocking elimination in December.
