(NewsCore) U.S. rapper Snoop Dogg has t - U.S. rapper Snoop Dogg has told of the five-year struggle his family have been through since his daughter Cori was diagnosed with lupus at age six, People magazine reported Friday.
Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Cordozar Calvin Broadus, said he discovered Cori had the auto-immune disease after noticing a light spot on her face.
He said Cori began losing drastic amounts of weights and her hair was falling out but doctors were unable to make a diagnosis until months later.
"I felt helpless," he said while fighting back tears. "No power, no friends."
Cori’s mother Shante Broadus said: "No one could tell me what was wrong. They drew tons of blood and said she has old-person cells. They gave her all kinds of [medication]. But she went downhill."
Once Cori was diagnosed with lupus Snoop Dogg said he and his family began to understand the disease, which ultimately brought them closer together.
"She's the toughest little thing I've ever met," the rapper said. "She's on the honor roll, playing volleyball and softball, living life. She has all this joy. In the beginning lupus was winning. But now Cori is."
Lupus effects various parts of the body, including the joints, skin, blood, and kidneys. For many people, the disease is mild and affects only a few organs, but for others the disease can be severe and even life threatening.
Snoop Dogg, 38, and wife Shante Broadus also have two sons, Cordell and Corde.
Meanwhile Snoop Dogg has revealed his desire to get a cameo on the longest-running British soap opera “Coronation Street,” Sky News reported.
The “What’s My Name” rapper said he was a massive fan of the show while performing in Manchester and had begged his agent to score him a cameo alongside the likes of characters Ken and Deirdre Barlow.
But a spokesman for ITV said “no approach has been made” and if Snoop Dogg's agent did get in touch the aspiring soap actor should brace himself for disappointing news.
"Snoop is a great character but too larger than life to put on the street," the spokesman said.
