(EndPlay Staff Reports) - A new, previously unreleased song by 1960s icons The Doors will highlight a reissue this month of one of the band's biggest albums.
Rhino will mark the belated 40th anniversary of the Doors' "L.A. Woman" album with an extended reissue Jan. 24. Along with eight alternate takes of classics such as "Love Her Madly," "Riders on the Storm" and the title track, the two-disc collection will include the never-before-heard original, "She Smells So Nice."

In addition, Doors fans this year can look forward to a companion DVD on the making of the "L.A. Woman" album (originally released in 1971) as part of a celebration dubbed "Year of the Doors."
The new song, which largely sounds like a bluesy jam session, was discovered by producer Bruce Botnick while reviewing the album's session tapes for the reissue, reported Rolling Stone .
"Morrison's vocals aren't well captured; he sounds muffled and a bit abrasive – maybe that's why the song never made it on the original record – but it's nice to hear his sultry growls all the same," according to a review of the song in TIME .
More on the album reissue and new song can be found on The Doors Facebook page .
The band formed in Southern California in the summer of 1965 when Morrison and keyboardist Ray Manzarek, who'd previously met at UCLA's film school, ran into each other at Venice Beach, according to the band's Facebook bio.
Morrison was invited to join Manzarek's group Rick and the Ravens, and Doors guitarist Robbie Krieger and drummer John Densmore joined soon after.
The band released its eponymous first album in January 1967, which featured the classics "Break on Through (to the Other Side)," "Light My Fire," "Back Door Man" and "The End"
Morrison died in Paris in 1971 and the band broke up in 1973, though surviving members have pursued numerous projects together.
