(EndPlay Staff Reports) - What better way to enjoy the holiday season than to sit down and enjoy some of your favorite holiday movies.
With so many to choose from – classics, comedies, rom-coms, musicals – it's hard to narrow down which ones to watch every year.
To help you out, here are the top ten holiday movies, in no particular order, to please everyone in the house:
Elf – Although a more recent Christmas movie, Will Ferrell warmed hearts as the oversized elf in this family favorite – "Santa, I know him!"
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation – Reminding us just how crazy the holiday season can be when family comes in town, Chevy Chase and the Griswolds make us thankful for our family, and glad that we didn't decide to light our house with 25,000 imported Italian twinkle lights.
Miracle on 34th Street – If there is a non-believer in Santa in your home, just have them watch this Christmas classic from 1947 and have them believing again.
Polar Express – Visually appealing with a great story about a boy who goes on a train ride to discover Santa again, the movie is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records 2006 as the "first all-digital capture" film.
A Christmas Story – Released in 1983, "A Christmas Story" has become a top holiday film because of its memorable lines and relatable storyline. A museum, a musical, and movie memorabilia have all been a result of this holiday favorite. But maybe the most important lesson taken away from the movie is to never stick your tongue to a metal pole in the winter.
Home Alone – This film made Macaulay Culkin a star, and had children all over the world wishing they could be left home alone for the holidays in a big house in a Chicago suburb. This movie is one for the whole family to sit down and watch.
The Holiday – What top movie list would be complete without a love story? Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet star as two women who journey across the Atlantic and exchange houses during Christmas to forget heartbreak, only to find love where they least expect it. Get all Christmasy and watch this one with your sweetie.
It's a Wonderful Life – There isn't a year that you can turn on the television and not see this holiday movie staple. Although it has an un-cheerful premise, the ending has you remembering what the season is all about.
White Christmas – Music and the holidays kind of go hand in hand, so why not enjoy both by watching the Bing Crosby classic. You won't be able to stop singing after watching this one.
Bad Santa – We can't be on the nice list all of the time. Indulge your naughty side and watch "Bad Santa." Starring Billy Bob Thornton as a Santa who you probably wouldn't want your kids to visit, his heart is changed when he begins to help a bullied kid stick up for himself.
