Wilco and Popeye Team Up in New Video

(EndPlay Staff Reports) - Wilco and Popeye are sharing some love this week.

The rock band was featured in the comic edition of "Popeye," and in new music video the band stars alongside Popeye characters.

The music video has the band playing while the cast of "Popeye" jumps out of a can of, what else, spinach.

The storyline quickly jumps to the ever-present fight over the affection of Olive Oyl, with Bluto, Popeye and, now Wilco lead singer, Jeff Tweedy, all trying to win over the love of Popeye's life.

As the band plays the catchy tune of "Dawned On Me," Olive Oyl seems to have eyes for the musician, but Bluto soon puts a stop to that by kidnapping the twiggy cartoon singer.

Of course, Popeye comes and saves the day after downing a can of spinach; however, this time it's "Wilco Spinach." Bluto is defeated, but Popeye's heroics aren't enough for Olive Oyl. She joins the band again and is completely won over after Tweedy offers her flowers.

Defeated, Popeye returns back to his can (along with the rest of the characters), and Wilco and Olive Oyl happily stroll away to the last trills of music – Tweedy and Olive Oyl arm in arm.

The collaboration with Popeye doesn't end with the comic appearance and music video, though.

A website has been set up called wilcospinach.com where visitors can explore by clicking on different items that allow them to watch the music video, buy the song, visit popeye.com, see the Wilco Spinach advertisement "coming soon" or learn more about the band.

The press release stated that the music video is the first Wilco has done since 1999. "Dawned On Me" is from their 2012 Grammy nominated album "The Whole Love."
