(NewsCore) - A 20-year-old graffiti tagger in Los Angeles was killed early Saturday morning when he was hit by two cars, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Raul Garcia Jr. and two other men were tagging the center divider of the 710 Freeway near Compton at the time of the incident, according to the California Highway Patrol.

About 4:17am, they ran across the freeway with Garcia's two companions making it safely.

However, Garcia was hit by a Nissan Maxima and was thrown into the next adjacent lane, where he was hit by a second car, which drove away.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other two men were detained by police.

The incident shut down all four lanes on a stretch of the 710 Freeway for two hours.
