(NewsCore) - A family of three missing for six days was found alive Saturday after getting lost while mushroom picking in an Oregon wood.
Daniel and Belinda Conne, both 47, and their 25-year-old son Michael were eventually spotted in a wooded ravine located 12 miles (19 kilometers) upriver from Gold Beach, Ore., by a helicopter search team and later airlifted to safety, the Curry Coastal Pilot reported.
Curry County Sheriff John Bishop said the Oklahoma residents' injuries "appear to be minor" in spite of their experience.
"Daniel and Belinda Conne were somewhat dehydrated and hungry, but otherwise OK," Bishop said. "Michael Conne had a sprained ankle and frostbite to his feet, and was also somewhat dehydrated and hungry. No other injuries were noted by the rescue teams."
The family, who went missing Jan. 29, was airlifted by a US Coast Guard helicopter and taken to Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach to be treated.
Bishop, who spoke to the family at the hospital, said they had seen helicopters flying overhead but were unable to attract the pilot's attention because of the dense vegetation.
It was not until they reached a clearing at around 11:30 am local time Saturday that they were spotted.
