Seeing Plumbers in New Light With Sexy Calendar

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - A plumbing company has stripped down to the basics in order to get people to see plumbers in a new light.

LR Services Plumbing has released its fifth wall calendar, reported AOL News . The calendar features seductive photos of the company's employees.

"Our goal is to change the way you view plumbers," said Leonard Redway, president of the Los Angeles area company, told AOL News.

Redway came up with the idea of a fit, clean-cut crew of young plumbers in 1997. He bought them "nice, tight-fitting uniforms with clean lines" and saved his money to produce a calendar, which he accomplished in 2006, according to AOL News.

BlackNews.com said he also wanted to defy stereotypes surrounding African Americans.

"LR Services Plumbing was founded with the specific intention of demonstrating that we as a people through hard work, positive support and working together as a community are capable of achieving success despite adversity," Redway said.

The calendar features Redway and his brothers, Andrew and Owen Redway, and another employee. The brothers said they stay in shape year-round, not for the calendar but for their work.

"Plumbing is very, very physical work," Owen said. "Sometimes we're crawling underneath a house or digging trenches or sewer lines for hours, so you have to be in shape."

The company's website said this year's calendar was created with the help of celebrity photographer Scott Hebert of Studio 360 Imaging.

Proceeds go to the Jenesse Center for Domestic Violence.

A similar project helped pay the way for improvements of a pothole-damaged highway in Canada. CBC New s reported that rural Saskatchewan residents posed nude along a stretch of the highway and, with the help of media coverage, sold about 3,000 calendars to raise roughly $40,000.

While models were nude, strategic poses and props protected their private parts.

The money from the 2007 calendar actually went to pay for a new roof on a local community hall but, as new public officials came to power, the determination also moved them to fix the road. The improvements were completed this month.
