(NewsCore) - A woman was arrested after biting the faces of two children at a northern California bookstore, police said.
Polly Beltramo, 46, is accused of biting the cheek of a toddler and a baby at a bookstore in Mountain View, Calif., on Thursday afternoon, the San Jose Mercury News reported.
The children's mom said the suspect walked up to them in the store, bit her children, then fled, according to police spokeswoman Liz Wylie.
"The girl started running to her mother saying, 'That lady bit me,' and she had a big welt or something on her cheek," one of the store's owners told KGO-TV.
While the mother tended to her daughter, her two-month-old son started screaming -- and they saw that his cheek was bleeding, the owner said.
Beltramo was arrested at a nearby coffee shop on suspicion of felony child abuse and was expected to be taken to county jail, Wylie added.
Fire department officers treated the two children at the scene, and they did not need hospital treatment.
