(EndPlay Staff Reports) - Though this year's tax deadline is looming, here's a bit of good news: You've probably earned enough money this year to foot the bill for your 2011 taxes.
Tax Freedom Day marks the day you've earned enough to pick up your tab to the IRS. The Tax Foundation tallies information to calculate the exact date to celebrate. This year, Tax Freedom Day falls on April 12.
On average, Americans will spend approximately 28 percent of their income on taxes this year, according to information from CNN . That means you'll need to work about three months to cover expenses for state and federal taxes.
Though additional taxes pushed national Tax Freedom Day back a few days this year, each state has its own Tax Freedom Day based on local tax burdens. According to reports from the Tax Foundation, Mississippi had the earliest Tax Freedom Day this year on March 26; while residents of Connecticut won't earn enough to cover their tax burden until May 2.

If you think three months is a long time to work just to give it all back to Uncle Sam, keep in mind that things are somewhat better than they were a decade ago. CNN reported that in 2000, before Bush-era cuts took effect, Americans spent nearly three extra weeks on the job to meet their tax obligations.
If you're too frazzled with last year's return to think about this year's tax burden, you're not alone. According to reports from Yahoo's Appolicious blog , there are a handful of apps for your iPhone or iPad ready to hold your hand throughout the filing process, even at the last minute.
