(EndPlay Staff Reports) - Ready for an out-of-this-world Facebook experience? A new game promises to deliver has just taken off.
NASA's multi-player game Space Race Blastoff hit the web Monday. The game tests users' knowledge of science, math, technology and NASA's role in space exploration and aeronautical research.
Players who are able to whiz through the trivia earn "virtual badges depicting NASA astronauts, spacecraft and celestial objects," according to a news release . Additionally, players will also earn points which can be used to obtain additional badges to complete sets.
The rules of the game are simple. According to the directions posted within the Facebook app , the game will match you against another player and then each player is given 15 seconds to answer a multiple-choice trivia question. If you get it right, you'll get 100 points and your spaceship with rise one level on the screen. If you miss it, your spaceship stays put. If you find the correct answer and answer the question before your opponent, you'll get an additional 20 points.
The developers hope that players will not only have fun playing the game, but learn something, too.
"Space Race Blastoff opens NASA's history and research to a wide new audience of people accustomed to using social media," David Weaver, NASA's associate administrator for communications, said in a news release. "Space experts and novices will learn new things about how exploration continues to impact our world."
