Anthony: NBA Players Losing PR Battle

(NewsCore) - Carmelo Anthony is not happy the NBA owners and commissioner David Stern seem to be wiping the floor with the players' union in the public relations battle over the lockout.

"I don't think we're getting our message out there," Anthony said. "The owners are definitely doing a great job getting their message out."

The Knicks star, who spoke at Modell's Sporting Goods in Times Square on Friday while promoting a liquid chalk product, suggested the reason the owners have been successful in relaying their message to the public is because the Players' Association is outnumbered.

"They have David Stern and the owners, we only have Derek Fisher," Anthony said.

Anthony suggested the players should hold a news conference and give their point of view to help improve their public image.

"Maybe the half of the fans on the owner's side can really understand where we're coming from as players," Anthony said.

Anthony added he would be "heartbroken" if no agreement is reached by Tuesday and Stern makes good on his threat that the NBA would not be playing on Christmas.

Though Anthony's Knicks teammate Amar'e Stoudemire said the other day that if the lockout lingers, the players may try to start their own league, do not expect that to happen anytime soon.

"It is possible a players-only league could happen," Anthony said. "That would take a long time to do unless people start throwing money up there."
