(EndPlay Staff Reports) - Electronic Arts has released its Super Bowl XLVI prediction.
But will it be right?
This year the game believes the New York Giants will win with a final score of Giants 27, New England Patriots 24. The simulation also predicts that the game will be decided by an overtime field goal.
EA's Super Bowl simulation has the Giants' Eli Manning as the most valuable player with 342 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, according to Yahoo! Sports . New England's Tom Brady rallies 14 points in the fourth quarter, but it isn't enough.
All Things Digital reported that the videogame publisher, which uses its Xbox 360 "Madden NFL" to simulate the outcome of the Super Bowl, has guessed correctly in six of the last eight games.
Madden's misses? In 2008, PCMag.com reported, Electronic Arts had the Patriots over the Giants, 38-30. The actual score was Giants 17, Patriots 14.
Then there was last year. Madden had the Steelers over the Packers, 24-20. The Packers took the victory, 31-25.
How does Madden do it?
There's a series of ratings, algorithms, and interactions as the game "plays" out, PCMag explained. All Things Digital said Electronic Arts uses artificial intelligence and real data from each team, right down to variables such as injuries.
Fans will find out in Sunday's game whether Madden's prediction will once again come out on top.
