Florida Judge Mocks Man Accused of Trying to Bribe Deputy With Dolphins Tickets

(NewsCore) - A Florida judge mocked a man who allegedly tried to bribe a law enforcement officer with tickets to see the Miami Dolphins' season finale, the Palm Beach Post reported.

"Have you been watching the Dolphins? No one's going to go to that game," Palm Beach County Judge Timothy P. McCarthy told Eric Scott Topalian during his bond hearing Sunday morning.

The 23-year-old Boca Raton man was accused of offering two tickets for the game against the Jets to avoid a drug arrest. The attempt backfired though, with Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputies booking him Saturday afternoon.

Topalian was charged with two counts each of possessing controlled drugs without a prescription, bribery of a public servant, threatening a public servant and resisting arrest without violence.

Topalian attempted to explain the value of the tickets during Sunday's hearing, but was advised by McCarthy that it probably was not in his interests to justify an alleged bribe.

"Miami-Jets tickets aren't worth a damn," McCarthy told him.

The Dolphins, who entered Sunday's finale with a 5-10 record, closed out the season with a 19-17 win over their AFC East rivals.
