Embattled Cowboys WR Bryant Detained by Police After Miami Nightclub Fight

(FOX Sports Southwest) - Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was detained by Miami police after getting into a fight at a nightclub, wfaa.com reported Monday.

The embattled player's mentor, David Wells, confirmed Bryant was involved in a scuffle at LIV nightclub at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach Sunday night.

Bryant had been trying to avoid the media spotlight since a report surfaced that he would be served with a lawsuit at the team hotel when the Cowboys were in the New York area to play the Giants on Jan. 1.

The suit is being brought by Endurance Capital Fund, a New York-based finance company, which said Bryant owes more than $50,000 on an original $100,000 loan. The company said the debt was past due for more than a year and that Bryant had eluded process servers in Texas.

Earlier last season, Bryant settled two other lawsuits brought by jewelry makers. One of the lawsuits alleged Bryant owed $600,000 for jewelry and sporting event tickets, the other claimed he owed $240,000 for jewelry.

Last March, Bryant was issued a criminal trespass warning and temporarily banned from an upscale Dallas mall. Bryant later apologized for directing profanity at an off-duty police officer who had asked the player and his companions to pull up their sagging pants.
