Packers' Hawk Fined $10,000 for Flipping the Bird

(NewsCore) - Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl linebacker A.J. Hawk was fined $10,000 Friday for flipping his middle finger at his own sideline last weekend.

Hawk's gesture was caught on television after he recorded a sack in the Packers' 24-3 blowout victory over the St. Louis Rams Sunday.

The hard-hitting linebacker, who said the lewd gesture was a running joke with teammates, later apologized for the post-sack celebration, saying, "I definitely won't do it again."

"There was no anger or malice or anything towards it. It was a joke, and I kind of got caught up in the emotions of the game," he said.

"I'm stupid. I don't even realize sometimes when I'm out there that anyone's out there -- the TVs or anything. I know it got caught on TV, and that was a bad decision by me."

"I definitely apologize if any kids or anyone else saw it," Hawk added. "I have a daughter myself, so I wouldn't want her doing that."
