(NewsCore) - Kris Humphries may have just signed a new contract, but the Nets forward is not going to win a popularity contest anytime soon.
The newly single Humphries has surpassed Miami Heat star LeBron James as the most disliked player in the NBA, according to a Nielsen E-Poll Market Research survey.
Humphries, who has made more headlines in the gossip columns than the sports pages as of late, came in first place with 50 percent of those surveyed in the public poll disliking the 6ft 9in (206cm) Minnesota native, the New York Post reported.
James, who finished in second place, was disliked by 48 percent of those who took part.
Humphries was thrust into the national spotlight during his 72-day marriage to Kim Kardashian, which ended when she filed for divorce in October.
In scenes that suggested the poll was not far off the mark, Humphries was booed as he entered Wednesday's preseason game with the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, and the treatment continued every time he touched the ball.
Humphries was not the only Kardashian-linked NBA player to make the list. Dallas Mavericks forward, Lamar Odom, who is married to Kim's sister Khloe, rounded out the top 10 with 21 percent of participants saying they disliked the two-time NBA champion and reigning Sixth Man of the Year.
