Rockets' Lowry Faces Battery Charge for Allegedly Hurling Ball at Female Ref

(myFOXhouston.com) - Houston Rockets point guard Kyle Lowry was charged Friday with one count of misdemeanor battery for allegedly throwing a basketball at a female referee during an exhibition game.

The alleged victim, Infini Robinson, was one of the officials overseeing a Sept. 22 game in Las Vegas involving a number of NBA players, according to a warrant obtained by KRIV-TV.

"At the end of the game, Lowry approached the victim and threw a basketball at her striking her in her torso," it read.

"The victim picked up the basketball and tossed it back at Lowry. Lowry became upset and stated, 'B****, meet me outside. I will kick you're a**.'" (sic)

The two other referees involved in the game, Bobby McRoy and Herb Rafuse, confirmed what happened and identified Lowry as the suspect.

Lowry, who is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 2, faces up to six months in the Clark County Detention Center and a possible fine of up to $1,000.

"We are aware that a complaint has been filed in Las Vegas against Kyle," said Daryl Morey, Rockets general manager, in a statement issued by the club.

"We will work to get clarity on the situation. As this is a legal matter, we will not comment further."

Lowry declined comment Thursday night.

Drafted 24th overall out of Villanova in 2006, he was traded by the Memphis Grizzlies to the Rockets in Feb. 2009. He has started all six games for Houston this season, averaging 15.3 points, 10 assists and two steals.
