Street Closures:      

      

The area between Third and Fifth streets from Flower Street to Grand Avenue will be closed for marathon preparations as of Sunday night.

Northbound Figueroa Street from Seventh Street to Wilshire Boulevard will be closed beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, when the LA Bike Tour will begin, followed by the wheelchair race at 7 a.m. and the marathon at 7:08 a.m. A 5- kilometer run will start at 8:30 a.m.

Streets that are part of the 26-mile, 385-yard race course will also close at 5 a.m.

The marathon starts at Sixth and Figueroa streets in downtown. Runners will head south on Figueroa to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, north on Vermont Avenue to Exposition Boulevard, south on Arlington Avenue around Leimert Park and back north on Crenshaw Boulevard to Venice Boulevard.

From there, the course will head north on La Cienega Boulevard, east on Pico Boulevard, through the Fairfax District, east on Sixth Street, then Third Street, south on Wilton Place and east on Olympic Boulevard.

Runners will continue east on Olympic into the downtown area and finish the race at Fifth and Flower streets.

Immediately following the race, streets will reopen by region. Department of Transportation officials expect streets to open at:

      

  • 11 a.m. in Exposition Park;
         
  • 12 p.m. in the Crenshaw area;
         
  • 1 p.m. on Venice Boulevard;
         
  • 2 p.m. in the Fairfax District;
         
  • 4 p.m. in the Wilshire/Westlake area; and
         
  • 5 p.m. in Downtown Los Angeles.
         

      

Service on five DASH lines -- Crenshaw, Midtown, Pico Union/Echo Park, Southeast and Wilshire Center/Koreatown -- will be affected by the marathon.

Service on DASH Crenshaw Line will be suspended until 12:30 p.m. Monday when the streets reopen and the DASH Midtown Line will restart service at 1:30 p.m.

Between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, the Pico Union/Echo Park Line will not make stops on Washington Boulevard at Grand Avenue, Figueroa Street or Cherry Street and Union Avenue at Olympic and James M. Woods boulevards.

Service on the DASH Southeast and DASH Wilshire Center/Koreatown lines will be suspended until 5 p.m.
