Chris Chmura

Consumer reporter Chris Chmura joined FOX 13 in April, 2007. However, his roots at his hometown station date back to 1991.

Chris grew up in Dunedin and interned at WTVT when he was in high school. He built on unforgettable experiences at "Eyewitness News" while attending the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications.

Three days after graduating from UF, the Conus TV News Service hired Chris as a reporter. From an office in Tallahassee, Chris provided political news to WTVT. Conus soon promoted him to its Washington, D.C. bureau, where he served on the White House Press Corps and appeared on 110 TV stations nationwide. Chris followed both the Clinton and Bush administrations, filing nightly reports.

Following the September 11, 2001 attacks, Chris spent several years at The Associated Press in Washington. By 2005 he was back home, working for WFLA-TV, Channel 8.

Today, you can watch his sometimes quirky (but always frugal) stories on either the FOX 13 10 O'clock News or Good Day Tampa Bay.

When he's not battle-testing products or offering unique ways to stretch your family's dollar, Chris enjoys budget travel. Sometimes, he admits, he savors the thrill a bargain hunt just as much as a trip itself.
