A 25 year old north side man is on the run from the law after an argument turned deadly.
Cook County prosecutors have charged Ernesto Montoya-Hernandez with fatally shooting his former roommate, 35 year old Juan Mendez, nearly a year ago.
Investigators say the shooting happened during a party in a motel room in the 6000 block of north Lincoln Avenue on April 23, 2010. Witnesses tell police the two men began arguing after Mendez told Montoya-Hernandez he was planning on moving out of their north side apartment.
Agents say Montoya-Hernandez disappeared before paramedics or police arrived at the motel. Since then, they have been conducting a nationwide manhunt to find him. They also say Montoya-Hernandez may be hiding out in his home town of Rosamorada, Nayarit, Mexico.
Here's a physical description of Montoya-Hernandez. He's described as an Hispanic male, 5'9", and weighs 170 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, a tattoo on his left shoulder and goes by the name "Camacho."
Montoya-Hernandez is considered armed and dangerous.
