Chicago's Most Wanted Edgar Garcia

Twenty-seven year old Edgar Daniel Garcia is wanted for murder following a fatal shooting on the city's west side in April 2004. Chicago police and FBI agents believe Garcia shot 20 year old Emmanual Miranda at least nine times outside Luciano's Food Market.

Investigators say the shooting happened when Miranda was walking in the 2400 block of west Moffat Street and a car pulled up along side him; police say Garcia was one of the occupants inside. After exchanging gang signs, agents say the car Garcia was in parked around the corner and Miranda and a friend went into the store. When they came out, investigators say Garcia shot Miranda. According to the police report, Miranda was shot once in the chest and three times in the back. Prosecutors allege Garcia chased Miranda's companion down the street; they say he shot at him but missed. Witnesses told police Garcia then stood over Miranda's body and shot him several more times.

Investigators believe this shooting is gang related and that Garcia fled the state shortly after the killing, possibly heading to Mexico. Now, nearly seven years later, agents believe Garcia has returned to the Chicago area where he has friends, family and fellow gang members who might be helping him hide. The FBI is offering a reward of up to ten thousand dollars for any information leading to Garcia's arrest.

Edgar Garcia is described as a Hispanic male, about five feet eight inches tall, weighing around 135 pounds, with black hair, and brown eyes. He also has two tattoos; a cross on his back and the phrase "Life is Wild" on his right arm.

Garcia is considered armed and dangerous.
