Cameron: In The Fast Lane And Would Love Sisters and Brothers

On and off the track, this week's Wednesday's Child is ready for adventure!

We caught up with Cameron (2000) at MB2 Raceway in Sylmar, California and quickly learned that his ultimate goal is to be a Formula One (F1) racecar driver. While LA doesn't have a F1 racing circuit, Cameron was ready for some eco-friendly indoor racing so the Wednesday's Child pit crew took it upon themselves to not only ensure his safety but also help him shine during today's adventure.

Before hitting the track, Cameron and crew reviewed what different flag signals mean -- green for "go", yellow for "slow", black for "return to pit" and, of course, the famed checkered flag which signals the end of the race. Expert instruction was provided by Indy Race Car Driver Brian Herta as Cameron found and donned on proper-fitting safety gear.

Soon we were off, Herta taking the lead but making sure Cameron didn't fall too far behind. Cameron – who takes direction well – followed the rules of the track and kept an eye on the flagman at each lap. Cameron told us that he wants to go to college first, become a pro basketball player and then use his NBA earnings to finance his racecar dreams. Sounds like Cameron has some big plans and big dreams – but why shouldn't he? He's a kid, after all… and that's what kids should have.

But just like speed and unforeseen obstacles can cause a car to go off course, plans and dreams can also go off course when you don't have family to keep you grounded and give you guidance as one travels the road of life. Cameron needs a permanent pit crew that can give him the right signals to help him maneuver the obstacles ahead of him on life's road.

Cameron soon got the hang of it and you wouldn't know that he had never really raced before. In reality, that is often the case with kids in foster care – they get caught up in life's race and have to adjust and fake it until they are ready to make it. We want every child to have permanency and be prepared as best they can for what lies ahead of them.

In today's race, Cameron is driving car #5, Indy Car Driver Brian Herta in #22 and our news anchor Christine Devine in #10. During this lap, Cameron makes the best time and wins with Herta showing in second and Devine in last place. Cameron has a winning spirit and continues doing his best as he makes his way around life's next lap. We are looking for a family that is ready to give him the support and guidance to stay on track and be ready for future victory laps.
