Brothers Chayan and Premitivo: Magic On The Minds

It's been said that the allure of magic is something that is universal and timeless. With that in mind, please take a closer look as we once again turn Wednesday's Child into Wednesday's Children and introduce you to a pair of brothers -- Chayan and Premitivo -- as they spend an afternoon in the (quick) hands of master magicians Tony Clark and Jonathan Levit at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

For a pair of brothers like Chayan (1995) and Premitivo (1998) who spent the majority of their lives in foster care, it's easy to become disillusioned about having a consistent place you know as home and having a family that will always be there for you. For these two, they still believe that the right family for them will appear and help restore in them that magical feeling of belonging. For now, they have each other and are truly each other's best friend. Both boys like typical things for their age -- basketball, soccer and watching TV.

Premitivo, or Tivo as he likes to be called, takes his lead from his older brother Chayan.

Tivo says he got into basketball because of Chayan and somewhere along the line picked up soccer as well. What Tivo likes about his big brother is that he's always there for him and they always manage to have fun no matter what.

If older brother Chayan could wave a magic wand and become anything he desires, he would be a superstar in the NBA (like Magic Johnson). Without the wand, Chayan plans to go to college and hone in on career options then. Tivo, on the other hand, is inspired by how his older brother is protective and therefore Tivo wants to be a police officer when he grows up so he can take his turn at helping and protecting others.

When asked about what he likes about his little brother, Chayan said rhetorically, "what's there not to love -- he's my brother. He has a good heart and I do my best to protect him."

While Tivo benefits from the unconditional love and protection of his big brother, Chayan deserves to carry less of a protective role and be able to enjoy just being a teenager himself within a permanent family setting where a parent(s) and other supportive adults play the roles meant for adults.

For an afternoon, we were able to watch the magic of both Tivo and older brother Chayan be carefree and playful youth as they got caught up in being astounded and amazed at the tricks performed by our host magicians. But now its time for some real magic to happen -- the kind where the right family (perhaps yours) sees these two brothers on Wednesday's Child, contacts us, and we help put things in place and watch as the forever family that these two have been looking to be part of starts to materialize.
