Hal Eisner

Hal Eisner is celebrating his 30th year on television here in Los Angeles. Most of those years were spent right here on FOX 11 and My13.

From breaking news to fun stories... thoughtful, provocative, issue-driven ones... Hal's done it all and has scored an impressive number of journalism awards along the way. His years of writing, producing and reporting stories has earned him Emmys, Golden Mikes, awards from The L.A. Press Club and The Associated Press, including the AP's 2005 Mark Twain Award for Reporter of the Year.

Hal started reporting news on radio in his home state of Texas. It was when he became a correspondent for CNN in the early '80s that he came to Los Angeles and turned his attention to television.

Hal has covered all kinds of local and national stories including The Death of Whitney Houston, The 2012 Presidential Political Primary Season, The Death of Trayvon Martin, The Trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, The Shootings at Columbine High School, the Chatsworth Metrolink crash, President Reagan's death and funeral, the Northridge earthquake, the L.A. riots and the highly publicized trials of O.J. Simpson, Robert Blake and Michael Jackson. He's interviewed well known politicians, famous stars and many Angelenos.

Believing that its important to help future broadcasters because many helped him along the way, Hal has created nationally recognized mentoring programs. He has also been very active in industry organizations. He's a past president of APTRA - The Associated Press Television Radio Association. He also served two terms as Los Angeles Vice Chair of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and three terms on The Academy's Board of Governors.
