Tony McEwing

Tony McEwing co-anchors FOX 11 Morning News at 4:30 am and provides news updates for the Emmy award winning Good Day LA, broadcast weekdays from 7:00 - 10:00 am.

He also co-anchors the FOX 11 10 am News and the FOX 11 News at Noon.

McEwing joined KTTV FOX 11 in 1993 to anchor Fox 11 Morning News and co-anchored Good Day LA from April 1994 to April 1995.

In 2001 & 2003, McEwing was honored with Emmy Awards for his half hour specials "Songs of Our Success." In 1997, McEwing filed a three-part report on the Los Angeles Mission's yearlong rehabilitation program that earned a nomination for a Los Angeles area Emmy award. The reports were later compiled into the half-hour news special, Mission of Hope, which won the national Iris Award in the Best Current Affairs category, won a Golden Mike Award for Best Documentary and earned a National Emmy nomination in 1998. McEwing anchored three hours of continuous live coverage of the North Hollywood Bank Shootout and filed live reports from Chicago during the 1996 Democratic National Convention. He participated in the coverage of the 1994 Rose Parade, interviewing participants during the live pre-parade special. In 1994, he anchored KTTV's Crown Books teacher salute, profiling outstanding Southland educators.

The Chicago native is active in the community, speaking at numerous community functions as well as helping youth through mentoring programs.

Before KTTV, McEwing spent 12 years working at KXTV, then the CBS affiliate in Sacramento, where he anchored the morning and noon newscasts. While at the station, he filed in-depth reports on the Southland, including the Rodney King trial and the civil unrest. Prior to KXTV, McEwing was the Washington, D.C. correspondent for WDSU, the NBC affiliate in New Orleans, Louisiana from 1980-81. His reporting career includes a stint as a reporter for The News Sun, the largest daily newspaper in suburban (Chicago) Lake County, where he covered the business and industry beat during the summer of 1980.

McEwing earned a Masters degree in editorial broadcasting from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 1981, where he received a Bachelor of Science in education in 1978 and attended the School of Law.
