A Whittier gang member…convicted of two murders, including a botched hit for the Mexican Mafia - was sentenced to the death penalty.
FOX 11 Investigative Reporter Chris Blatchford was there for the sentencing… check out the story in this Investigative Video Report.
Gabriel Ronquillo - under orders from the Mexican Mafia - did what prosecutors describe as an "execution." Now, waist and leg chained - he shuffles into a Norwalk courtroom to hear details of his own death.
Investigators say six-and-a-half-years ago, Ronquillo knocked on the front door of this Whittier house. It was home to a founding member of his own gang, "Southside Whittier."
When Gary Frausto answered the door, shortly after midnight, Ronquillo - in the words of the prosecutor "filleted" him. He sliced him ten times with this large knife to make it personal.
...and guess what?
Ronquillo hit the wrong guy.
