Saving the California Dream: California Access Scaffold, a two-week-old company with a 23-year history reemerged after bankruptcy as a non-union shop and workers say, they've been intimidated and harassed by their own carpenters union.
Owner Daniel Johnson says he diffused the situation by partnering with a union shop to finish off any outstanding union jobs, but the company now only bids on non-union jobs.
Although they'd attempted to hire back all their original employees, they are now actively hiring and training 70 new employees, including returning war veterans.
