HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

The heavy rain Tuesday left behind quite a mess at Willow Point in Harrison Township, but the people who live there say they're making the most of it.

For the children of Willow Point, it's a Fourth of July to remember.  Not even the sound of laughter could drown out the sound of maintenance suction pumps trying to clean up the mess after a massive storm.

"It was like really, really bad, then like in the afternoon and night, it just got worse ... like hard, hard, harder and harder," said Deante King.

"We got the Mississippi River here. I wish there was a way they could funnel the water to a drain so that it wouldn't flood so bad," said Mike Stevenson.

Drivers are being courteous to their neighbors by slowing down so not to cause a big splash.

Downed trees in the mobile home park still need to be cleaned up and tons of drowned worms washed away.

For Linda Rider, there's a silver lining.

"This is nothing compared to what it was yesterday."

The soggy ground certainly put a damper on this Fourth of July.

"I'm going to my daughter's for the day because I'm tired of it," Rider said.
