(CNS) Police released a composite sketch of a man who abducted a 6-year-old Santa Ana girl and sexually assaulted her.
The girl was playing with a 4-year-old boy in front of an apartment complex in the 1400 block of South Townsend Street when she was abducted Sunday between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
The man parked his car, walked up to the girl and said, "I have something for you to give to your mother,'' before he grabbed her and took her away, Bertagna said.
The man drove to a parking lot in the area, where he sexually assaulted the child, Bertagna said. About 90 minutes to two hours later, she was dropped off in a neighborhood "where people looking for her found her,'' he said.
Police issued a composite sketch made from descriptions from witnesses who have seen the man driving around the neighborhood and others who saw him grab the girl, Bertagna said.
The suspect is a heavy-set Latino man about 25 to 30 years old and 5 feet, 7 inches tall. He was driving a charcoal gray, two-door sedan with a moon roof, Bertagna said.
