3.8 Quake Rattles LA

3.8 Earthquake near Marina del Rey at 3:18 AM this morning at a depth of 5.6 miles.  Quake was felt as far away as Downtown Los Angeles. Earthquake was enough to rattle a few nerves but little else.  Strong but short jolt felt from Santa Monica south to South Bay,  USGS Info. Confirming two miles ESE of Marina Del Rey.

The epicenter was reported to be three miles form Culver City area and four miles from El Segundo, five miles from Inglewood and 12 miles from LA Civic Center.

In the past ten days, there has been one earthquake magnitude 3.0 or greater.

One myfoxla Twitter follower tweeted: "I just got woke up form a deep sleep by a very jerky earthquake.  I thought a car hit the building.  @kissalex.

Randy Baldwin, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey in Golden, Colo., says about 600 people have so far reported they felt the quake.

Sheriff's officials say they've had no reports of injuries or damage. The fire department says firefighters are making checks on their districts to assess any damage to infrastructure.
