According to reports from around the web, the next iPhone may have a smaller dock connector. The thinking behind this is that the folks in Cupertino are continuously striving to fit more and more technology into an already cramped space and making that connector smaller would allow for other technology to take its place in the next gen smartphone.
This may lead you to wonder if that means you will have to run out and purchase all new docking accessories which will fit what some are saying will be a 19 pin connector, as opposed to the current 30 pin connector? While there will probably be no final answer to that question until Apple formally announces the product, insiders are clamoring to tell web outlets what they need to know. Unnamed sources from three different manufacturers told Techcrunch recently that there will definitely be a 19 pin connector, similar in size to the Thunderbolt ports on new Macbook Pros and tech blog iMore's sources are saying that there will definitely be an adapter from Apple which will allow you to use your current 30 pin products with the newer 19 pin iPhone. iMore was the first blog to break the news that the forthcoming iPhone would have a smaller connector.
Ultimately, all will be made clear when Tim Cook and pals step on stage to the delight of iOS ifanboys the world over and roll out their latest iPhone!
