
A truck trying to elude police officers crashed into a car and killed its driver in Pomona on Sunday.
The incident occurred at La Verne and Towne avenues around 5:40 p.m. The Ford F350 truck was stolen in Rancho Cucamonga around 4 a.m. on Sunday.
A pursuit began when police spotted the truck in the area of Towne Ave. and Arrow Highway in Claremont on Sunday afternoon.
It only lasted about one minute and ended in Pomona when the suspect ran
a red light and slammed into a car, killing the driver, and then
crashed into a tree. The suspect tried to flee on foot after the accident. He was then arrested and taken to a local hospital for minor injuries.
The suspect will face charges including evading police, hit and run, and possibly manslaughter.
The victim's name has not been released.
"The Claremont Police will be handling the criminal investigation and
Pomona Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team will be
handling the traffic collision portion of the investigation," the
Claremont police said in a statement.
