Sweat & Pool Proof Makeup

Posted: Updated:

In today's Style File...during the hot summer months you don't want your makeup to run, bleed, or drip after you've been in the pool, or sweating.

Here to show us how to keep it fresh and on your face, Lori Taylor from Smashbox Cosmetics...

#1  The first go-to makeup product for hot summer days is primer.
Primer is the ultimate item that ensures that your makeup stays on throughout the hottest of the summer days.  This is applied first during your makeup application.

#2     Liquid foundation:
Oil-free and sheer will not clog pores and suffocate skin, causing breakouts.  Toss the powder - although it will instantly dry the oil on your skin, it can cake off when you are sweating.

#3    Sheer cream blush like O-Glow:
This has the same effect as liquid foundation - it is just a wash of color and will not cake off when the temperatures rise.

#4    Cream Eyeliners and shadows:
Ideal for the summer -  Long-lasting and are water resistant.  If you have to wear makeup to the beach, use these items as they are sweatproof and you can go in the water without the worry of smearing.  Smashbox cream shadows come in an array of colors and are easy to wear either as liner or as a shadow.

#5    Mascara can be tricky over the summer:
Water & sweat  lead to  running and can end up messy, so ensure to use either a waterproof or water resistant mascara on only the top lashes.  If you apply on the bottom lashes it will tend to smudge more under the eyes, giving a raccoon effect.

TIP:  For quick touch ups always carry q-tips on your to remove any smudging or blend makeup at the drop of a time.
