Investigative producer Heidi Cuda interviews Senator Alex Padilla (D-Pacoima), whose bill to expedite the firing of teachers embroiled in misconduct cases was defeated by the Assembly Education Committee.
LAUSD supported the bill, and Superintendent John Deasy told Cuda he was astonished it was defeated. LAUSD has spent up to $1.6 million to get a teacher dismissed.
Padilla, who attended an elementary school where a teacher's being sued for criminal sex abuse against children, says he plans to reintroduce the bill.
