It appears that more than a freeway appears to separate the Dodgers and Angels when it comes to Politics. While fans have taken up sides on the teams here in Southern California, it appears the two teams owners stand on the opposite sides of the political fence when it comes to their choice for President.
The Dodgers have given the most as a team totaling nearly $180,000 in contributions to President Obama's re-election and the Democratic National Committee. Down the I-5, Angels Owner Artie Moreno has given $2,500 to Romney's campaign and $30,800 to the RNC.
The areas two NHL Teams also seem to be divided. Just across the street at the Pond - Anaheim Ducks Owner Susan Samueli has chipped in $2500.00 to the Obama Campaign, while Ed Roski of the Kings wrote checks for $45,500 to the RNC and other Republican Committees and Candidates.
No contributions so far to either candidate from Lakers Owner Jerry Buss or Donald Sterling of the Clippers.
Alex Spanos, owner of the San Diego Chargers, the areas closest NFL Team has put all his money behind the Republican Party contributing $3500 to Mitt Romney, $30,800 to the RNC and $3500.00 to former Republican challenger Rick Perry.
The website WNYC.org has put together a map that shows to whom and how much money sports team owners around the country have contributed. The data is supplied by OpenSecrets/Center for Responsive Politics
