Dog thrown from moving car in Clayton County gets happy ending - Los Angeles Local News, Weather, and Traffic

He broke hearts, sparked outrage and this weekend, one little puppy is one step closer to a happy ending.

Dozer, knows the horrors of animal abuse and now knows the healing miracle of love. The puppy was thrown from a moving car this past summer in Clayton County.

His injuries were so severe that he was minutes away from being euthanized. But that's where Maria Dorough with Partners for Pets stepped into little Dozer's life.

"He was in bad shape. He was in very bad shape. He had to be sedated just to get bandages change," said Dorough.

Donations poured in from across the country to pay for Dozer's expensive vet bills. And with the threat of infection, there was no guarantee that he would make it.

But it seems the love of so many helped to pull Dozer through, healing him completely.

This weekend, it came time for Georgia to bid farewell to Dozer. He boarded a flight Saturday to Seattle, where a volunteer group Georgia Peaches will find him a home.

Dorough says that they felt he would have the best opportunity in Seattle. She says that all the dogs that have been sent out there have ended up in phenomenal homes with new, loving families.

Dozer lived with Amy Adams while he healed. A lot of tears were shed at the airport.

"I did cry. It was hard to let him go, because we got really attached to him," said Adams.

Dozer's reputation and outrage over his abuse preceded him to the west coast. But his newly found friends will forever shield him by their love.
