The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that a strong magnitude-7.4 earthquake has struck off the coast of El Salvador and a tsunami warning has been issued.
There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries after the quake struck at 10:37 p.m. Sunday.
The earthquake was located 86 miles (138 kilometers) south-southwest of San Miguel, the USGS reported on its web site.
The temblor took place at a depth of 32.9 miles (53 kilometers).
No destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is expected, and there is no tsunami threat to Hawaii, California, Washington or Oregon the Pacific Tsunami Center said.
It is not known at this time if a Tsunami was generated. This warning is based only on the Earthquake Evaluation.
