DETROIT (MyFox Detroit) -

Officer Brian Gadwell was enjoying his day off, visiting friends in Detroit's Delray neighborhood. They heard the sound of a torch across the alley, followed by sounds of links falling to the ground.

Turns out the iron rod fence that surrounds Delray's Neighborhood House was being cut apart. Gadwell told his friend to call 911 before jumping the fence, fearing the suspects might run. He was able to hold them down while he waited for police to get there.  His own precinct was even called, but police still did not arrive until thirty minutes later.

Fortunately, he was able to keep the suspects down, and once police arrived, four people were taken into custody.  This reportedly is a reoccurring incident. The fencing has been slowly stolen over months.  The police have been called several times, but no one was ever arrested before. The Delray staff is thrilled the case may be coming to a close, saying the fence costs $65,000.
