Indicted Derrick Smith still leads poll of West Side voters

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Former state congressman Derrick Smith has been indicted on federal bribery charges and kicked out of the Illinois General Assembly.
But he still has a huge lead in a poll of voters on the west side of Chicago.
Smith leads Unity Party candidate Lance Tyson by a 48-to-9 percent margin.
The poll was conducted by We Ask America.
An executive with the polling group said one reason smith is in the lead - even with his legal problems - is that a lot of people in the district vote strictly for Democrats.
