Salman Rushdie was well known in the literary world for years before he became notorious all over the world. His 1988 novel 'The Satanic Verses' was so controversial that it provoked a fatwa calling for his death by Iran's ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
For years, hard-line Muslims have targeted Rushdie in their protests...and he was forced to live under police protection.
Now, Rushdie has written a new book...a memoir called 'Joseph Anton.'
Salman Rushdie will answer questions and sign copies of his book this afternoon at 12:30 at the LA Public Library on West 5th street.
