Maria Sansone Named New Co-Anchor Of Good Day LA

Posted: Updated:

We are thrilled to announce Maria Sansone as the new co-anchor of our Good Day LA morning show. Sansone appeared many times on the show along with other candidates as auditions took place on-air during a four-month period over the summer.

Her first day will be Monday October 1 and will be joining co-host Steve Edwards weekday mornings from 7-10 AM PT on KTTV-TV FOX 11 in Los Angeles, which can also be watched online during the same time.

KTTV Vice President and General Manager Kevin Hale said, "Having started her career in television at age 11, Maria has interviewed everyone from pop culture icons and sports legends, to everyday people with compelling stories. Her contagious energy and signature style will be vital to the next generation of Good Day LA."

Sansone was a field reporter for WNBC 4 New York, appearing daily on "LX New York." She hosted the nationally syndicated travel show, "LXTV 1st Look" on NBC, as well as the reality competition series, "On the Rocks: Search for America's Best Bartender" and "The Match Off" on NBC.

Maria was also a correspondent for TV Guide Network and led the channel's live coverage of the Emmy's, Grammy's and Academy Awards. Sansone has contributed to "Access Hollywood," "EXTRA," ABC's "On the Red Carpet," CBS Sports, NESN, ESPN. She has appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," "Good Morning America," "The CBS Early Show" and "Dateline NBC.

She was also a VJ for MTV Networks and hosted web sensation, "The 9" on Yahoo. Earlier in her career Maria hosted "Gladiators 2000" with Ryan Seacrest and hosted her own show on ABC called "Wide World of Sports for Kids".

Sansone added, "I am thrilled to be joining Good Day LA. The show is an institution and to be a part of that tradition is a dream come true!"

Maria Sansone was discovered by then WJET-TV 24 reporter Mike Gallagher when he interviewed her for winning a kid's slam-dunk contest in Erie, Pennsylvania. By age 11, she was hosting WJET's sports segment called "Down to Size," which appeared weekly on the station. While there, she interviewed sports legends like Michael Jordan, Tommy Lasorda, Jim Kelly of the Buffalo Bills, and Bill Cowher of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Later, she served as a sideline reporter for "The Little League World Series" on ABC, which earned her the title, "Youngest Reporter in the History of Network Television."

Sansone graduated from The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University with a Bachelor's Degree in Television, Radio and Film and a minor in Political Science.
