Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson spoke with WWJ-AM radio on Friday, nearly two months after suffering multiple injuries in a car accident.

Patterson, who was released from McLaren Oakland Hospital two weeks ago, tells WWJ that he is feeling better.

On Aug. 10, the Chrysler 300 in which he was a passenger collided with another vehicle in Auburn Hills.  Both he and his driver, James Cram, were hurt.

Patterson says he is actively in contact with his staff and discussing county matters while getting his strength back at a local rehabilitation center. "We're getting work done," said Patterson.

Patterson is up for re-election in November. His opponents have claimed that may be too weak to continue in public office. "That's wishful thinking by my opponents that I'm not up to it," said Patterson. "I hate to disappointment them, but rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated."

We'll have much more on this story throughout the day.
